Boho-Inspired WeddingSierra + Quinton: Boho-Inspired Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on November 12, 2017

This pair of adventurers first met on a road trip to Invermere, B.C with some mutual friends. Sierra thought Quinton was cute but very shy and quiet, so it took a couple of years before they developed a relationship.

The Proposal

Sierra is extremely snoopy, so of course she discovered Quinton’s plans to surprise her in Spain and propose during her family vacation. Instead, he woke Sierra up early in the morning of her departure. He dressed up and she was wearing a “hideous” purple silk cap. The heartfelt card and amazing breakfast were nice touches, but Sierra loved that he actually surprised her.

The Big Day

The free spirits wanted a bohemian-inspired wedding and instantly fell in love with the exposed brick walls and crystal chandeliers at The Commons. They dressed up the room for their ceremony with a rustic floral arch, then flipped it to a cocktail reception and projected black-and-white movies for a backdrop. Quinton wore a dapper forest-green suit and Sierra swapped her long veil and lace bolero (both made by her aunt) for a flower crown at the reception.

Favourite Moments

Sierra was hesitant when her parents presented a slideshow, but it turned out to be her favourite moment. Quinton loved spending the day with his fun-loving bride. They spend their honeymoon on a Caribbean Cruise and are now planning their next adventure to Ecuador.

Newlywed Advice

“Make sure to enjoy the day of the wedding! That being said, a wedding coordinator was the best idea ever; Leslie took care of every little detail—even buying items last minute to make sure the venue was picture perfect.”

Alberta Cabin WeddingBreanne + Luke: Alberta Cabin Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 31, 2017

The West Coast played a huge recurring role in Breanne and Luke’s relationship, so it’s no wonder their DIY wedding had a laid-back vibe. They met during a hiking trip on the West Coast Trail, and Luke proposed in Sloquet near Whistler.

The Proposal

When he dropped Breanne off at the airport for a girls’ winter camping trip, he was the last person she expected to see in the mountains. After they arrived at their campsite, Breanne’s friend convinced her to hike to the river for a photo. Breanne got the surprise of her life when Luke managed to appear in the middle of nowhere and propose with his grandmother’s vintage ring. It turned out he hid in the backseat of her friend’s car for three hours!

The Big Day

They held their intimate wedding at Breanne’s family cabin to share the special place with close friends and family. The bride and groom shared a quiet moment during their first look, which put Breanne at ease and reminded her what the day was really about. She then walked past her childhood playhouse to the deck where she and Luke enjoy their morning coffee, then said “I do” over the glimmering lake. They wrote their vows separately, but they mirrored each other beautifully. “It was a symbolic reminder of how much we truly complement one another,” says Luke.

European Boho WeddingAmy + Brian: European Boho Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on February 25, 2016

The Proposal

Brian was very excited about proposing to Amy; for months he talked about flying with his friend. Before winter set in, Brian scheduled a flying session and asked Amy to join. Amy quickly latched on to the invitation thrilled about riding in a private prop plane. Due to Brian’s adventurous nature and a one day postponement of the original flight date, Amy didn’t suspect a thing. On October 5, 2014, Amy and Brian were soaring through the sky admiring breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains from above. As they passed over the windmills of Pincher Creek, Brian got down on one knee and proposed to Amy.

The Big Day

Physically grounded, yet emotionally stationed on cloud nine, Amy and Brian started planning their “European Bohemian” style wedding. The reception venue, Meadow Muse Pavilion, brought the couple’s vision to life—the gorgeous hardwood floors and renaissance chandeliers effortlessly complimented the calligraphy detailing of the place settings, candle accents, and draped garland across each table. “It felt like you were sitting in the middle of a garden and field,” said Amy, “that’s what we were going for.”

Favourite Moments

Amy: “Being surrounded by friends and family and making a sacred commitment to one another.”

Brian:The prime rib and Amy walking down the aisle.”

Featured Wedding: June 21, 2014Mariah & Mark's Persian Boho Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on February 10, 2015

Mariah and Mark unexpectedly found love by way of their best friends. The young couple met in their late teenage years and haven’t looked back since.

The Proposal

When the time came to propose, Mark threw Mariah for a loop. He didn’t propose on their trip to Hawaii, where family and friends thought he would propose—instead, Mark took Mariah to Elk Island Nation Park shortly after their return. The couple enjoyed a lovely walk that, unbeknownst to Mariah, was about to get even better. On their way back to the car Mark asked Mariah if she would drive home. Mariah replied with a firm “no” only to renounce her decision when Mark asked again. Without hesitation, he tossed her the keys, which had a special attachment—Mariah’s dream ring! Over the moon excited, the two spent the drive home planning their future.

The Big Day

A relaxed, airy outdoor wedding was always a mutual vision that came to life in Mark’s parents’ backyard. Aside from hosting the ceremony and reception on family property, other personal elements included the celebration of Mark’s Persian culture by exchanging vows on a Persian rug and Mariah wearing her grandmother’s vintage wedding ring that she admired since she was a little girl. The big day was stress free leaving the blissful couple with many sweet memories to treasure forever.

Favourite Moments

Mariah: “Sitting with Mark at our sweetheart table and looking around at everyone we love! The moments right after the ceremony were surreal.”

Mark: “Marrying my wife and the delicious food.”

Newlywed Advice

“Get a wedding planner! Seriously… even if you are organized and have flawless style, wedding planners (especially my wedding planner) are magical. They help relieve stress before the wedding day and definitely on the wedding day itself. And don’t sweat the small stuff. If you and your fiancé are arguing, you need to take a step back and look at what really matters – the actual wedding! not the designer shoes you’ve been dying to purchase for your big day.”
