Stylized Wedding ShootOld World Charm Meets Modernity

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on July 17, 2015

Who doesn’t love a charming stylized wedding shoot? Combine the already beautiful venue with a blend of loose floral arrangements and the charm of antique china shot by Red Bloom Photography and it’s a win for amazing inspiration!

Reflections Weddings & Events gathered a group of Calgary wedding vendors at the British House to shoot this perfect blend of old beauty with modern day romance.

The colour palette combined the romantic and fresh colours of turquoise, white, lavender and punches of fuchsia to create a unique summer palette.

The water colour cake and stationery brought the old world into the new again and the mix of 19th century antique furniture with the 2015 Hayley Paige wedding gown showcased that everything old can be new again.

Vintage Style Wedding RentalsVendor Spotlight: Details Vintage Decor Rentals

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on March 18, 2014

Happy Tuesday! Today we are showcasing Edmonton’s latest rental company, Details Vintage Decor Rentals. We are certified fans of this company and the ladies behind it for many reasons. Why Details? If you are a true fan of vintage pieces you know how hard they are to find these days. Kira and Katie have started collecting pieces since 2012 and are now ready to take on events from bridal showers, engagement celebrations, photo shoots and of course right up our alley…weddings! A large part of their collection was kindly donated by the Malthouse family. Their inventory consists of crate barrels, decorative jars, tea sets, serving ware, candle holders, frames, typewriters, furniture, trunks, luggages, and so much more. We follow them on Facebook so we don’t miss a thing.

Forever LoveStylized Shoot: JoyFoley Weddings & Team

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on January 27, 2014

In previous issues of Blush we’d coordinate our own photo shoot and design a set to provide engaged couples with wedding day inspiration. It’s always a lot of fun for us to select models, dress them up, and then build an entire set around a specific theme. Since we are also open to submitted stylized shoots, Stacey Foley with JoyFoley weddings sent us an email with images of a shoot she worked so very hard at. At the time, we were also on the hunt for the perfect cover! We had yet to cover a wedding cake and we refused to go with an ordinary one, it had to be over the top to grace the cover. Well, not only did Stacey’s shoot receive our fashion/design spread, the cake designed by Style Cakes graced the cover of our Spring Summer 2014 edition. Luckily, Stacey had great photographers, Eternal Reflections Photography captured all the details so beautifully! There are more local vendors to credit below the pretty images.

2014 Pantone Color of the YearRadiant Orchid

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on December 8, 2013

“Radiant Orchid” is the color of the year for 2014. Pantone’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, said in a statement that the color of 2014 is “an invitation to innovation” that “encourages expanded creativity and originality.” Pantone officials picked “radiant orchid” based on extensive interviews with industrial and fashion designers worldwide about what color they plan to use to upcoming seasons as well as sales of “color swatches,” according to the Wall Street Journal. So if there is ever a perfect year to incorporate orchids or this color into your wedding, 2014 would be it !

Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative, and embracing purple-one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.

Past Colors of the Year: 2013 Emerald, 2012 Tangerine Tango, 2011 Honeysuckle

Dress My Day PreviewVendor Spotlight: Dress My Day Linen & Chair Cover Rentals

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on December 6, 2013

Although Dress My Day has been operating for two years, it is likely that you will be hearing much more about this rental company in 2014. Located in Edmonton, Dress My Day, led by Priya Khan has advertised at Edmonton Bridal Expo and in Blush Magazine, but there is no mistaking that in 2014, Khan and her team will become a leading option for Edmonton’s brides. Currently a home-based business, Dress My Day is looking forward to one day opening a showroom.

Dress My Day is based on a “yes” philosophy where a bride’s vision is achieved. Khan says she does not “want brides to [think] their vision is [un]attainable” which is why she offers custom options. Providing personalized service, Khan is with her clients from the initial consultation to the event. Khan personally ensures that a client’s vision comes to fruition; therefore, she has opted to take a maximum of two events a weekend, with no more than fifty events a year.

Dress My Day invited us to have a sneak peek at their 2014 catalogue. Some of our personal favourites: full sequin linens available in a variety of colours, as well as the assortment of prints — particularly the art deco styles!
