Bohemian Outdoor Wedding
Private Estate with Family MemoriesPosted by Blush Magazine • Posted on March 7, 2022
The Proposal
They say the sun can’t shine every day, but a little rain couldn’t dampen Matt’s proposal to Kirsten. He had rented a cabin in Nordegg for a weekend, and as they sat together on the covered deck sipping wine and listening to the rain patter overhead, Matt took out a ring and got down on one knee. His family came out the next day to celebrate, with Margaritaville machines in tow.
The Big Day
The sun was shining as they gathered their favourite people together for the first time in a very long time to celebrate their marriage. Multiple generations of Kirsten’s family had made special memories visiting and growing up on their estate, and the beautiful treed setting made it an easy choice to host their bohemian wedding.
A “secret” path lined with hanging pictures of Kirsten and Matt’s ancestors led guests through the trees to the ceremony site, which created the sense of walking through their family trees. After they said their vows, the photographer whisked the bride and groom away for a few intimate “just married” shots. They sat on the grass with a beer just letting the moments from the ceremony sink in.
They held their reception under a white tent decorated with whimsical lanterns, potted plants, rattan chairs and warm earthy tones.

Advice from the Newlyweds
“Hire a wedding planner! Ours was the best investment we made. She kept us on task, our budget balanced, created an incredible design and ran the day seamlessly. We didn’t have to worry about anything—she had it all covered!”
Looking Forward to Most Now Being Married
Kirsten and Matt look forward to experiencing all their firsts and a married couple, and to always having someone to laugh with—even if it’s forced laughter at a bad joke.
