Classic Luxe WeddingMelanie + Terry: Classic Luxe Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on October 10, 2017

Classic. Timeless. Elegant. These three words describe everything about Melanie and Terry’s September wedding, from the proposal to their honeymoon.

The pair met through Melanie’s uncle, who was coincidentally Terry’s neighbour and good friend.

The Proposal

While celebrating Melanie’s birthday at Hardware Grill, Terry got down on one knee and surprised her with a custom ring made in Italy.

The Big Day

Melanie and Terry chose the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald not only for its stunning rooms, but also for the quality of food and service. They dressed the Wedgwood Room in soft shades of white, blush and lavender for the ceremony, and exchanged rings under a lush floral canopy. For the reception they added dramatic pops of berry, pink, purple and green into the floral décor and drenched the tables in gold and champagne tones for a luxe garden vibe. Melanie changed out of her exquisite lace gown into a light and whimsical dress to dance the night away. A live band and DJ alternated sets on separate stages to keep the party going.

Favourite Moments

Melanie’s favourite moment was seeing Terry and all of their family and close friends while walking down the aisle, while Terry’s was landing in Turks and Caicos to have his wife all to himself for two weeks.

Lake Louise WeddingKatrina + Mike: Lake Louise Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on October 3, 2017

Mike first set eyes on Katrina at his sister’s med school graduation when his brother-in-law pointed her out and said, “There is your future wife.” It turned out that the joke was more of a prophecy, as they started dating a few weeks later. Katrina knew Mike would be her future husband by their second date when she heard his impressive vocals at a local piano bar.

The Big Day

Since Mike proposed to Katrina at the top of a mountain in Canmore, they knew they wanted to have a mountain wedding but needed a venue that could accommodate 130 guests. They were absolutely floored when they stepped into the Victoria Ballroom at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. “The views of Lake Louise were breathtaking and the service was impeccable throughout the entire wedding weekend,” says Katrina.
Their two-month-old puppy, Kona, walked down the aisle as a guest-of-honour then fell asleep at the groomsmen’s feet while Katrina and Mike said their vows.

Favourite Moments

During cocktail hour their planners surprised them with a private viewing of the ballroom; they danced to their favourite music and goofed around in the photo booth. Mike treasures those moments most, while Katrina says the best part was reminiscing about their perfect day while hiking the West Coast Trail the week after.

Outdoor Edmonton WeddingTiffiney + Jeff: Outdoor Edmonton Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on April 16, 2017

Tiffiney and Jeff met working together at Ikea.  Five years after their first bump in, Ikea held a summer party. After the party, Tiffiney asked him for a ride home and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Jeff proposed to Tiffiney in London, England on the London Eye Ferris Wheel. Tiffiney had a feeling he was going to propose on the trip but played along until the proposal.

The Big Day

Tiffiney and Jeff tied the knot and celebrated in two unique venues. Their calm ceremony was at the Devonian Botanic Garden and their reception party was at the Edmonton Country Club (ps. you don’t need to be a member to host your wedding there). Jeff and his dad love classic cars, his father has a Chevy Nova that the couple were able to use for photos and for an alone time spin.

Music and dancing was one of the couples priorities and highlights. They walked down the aisle to an acoustic guitar playing ‘First Day of my Life and Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky.” The couple love hip-hop and R&B music so it was really important that they hired a DJ that would help them throw a party to remember. They arranged for their dance floor to be outdoors and hired DJ Kwake to play their favourite tracks. The newlyweds and their guests were on the dance floor the entire night.

Favourite Moments

Tiffiney: “Our vows, it took a lot for Jeff and I to write our own vows but I thought it was important. I think Jeff made everyone cry and I was really proud of him for writing them and expressing himself that way. They were touching and funny at the same time, and everything I hoped they would be.”

Jeff: “Our first dance, it was really amazing to have my cousins sing for us. We are very family orientated and that was just a special moment for the two of us. My cousins are also very talented, they live in California so not many of our friends in Edmonton have heard them sing so it was a treat to share that with our guests.”

Newlywed Advice

1) Hire a day of coordinator to handle all the details and vendor calls the day of the wedding. 2) Have your beauty team come to you so you can relax in your own space. 3) Plan some alone time with your partner, your wedding day is so high paced and goes by really fast.

Intimate Fairmont WeddingJaclyn + Jonathan: Intimate Fairmont Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 9, 2016

Online dating often results in hours of profile searching and numerous lacklustre first dates before—if you’re lucky—you really connect with someone. When Jaclyn and Jonathan were matched on Tinder, theirs was the first and last date either of them went on using the app. A few years later they celebrated their wedding with the hashtag #RamSwipedRight.

The Proposal

The couple love cooking, so Jonathan popped the question one evening while they were preparing dinner at his place. They celebrated their engagement later that evening with friends and family, and couldn’t wait to celebrate again—their engagement was only five months!

The Big Day

Jaclyn and Jonathan wanted a reception venue that was visually appealing and full of character, so when they discovered that the Wedgwood Room at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald was available for their date, they jumped on it. Instead of a photo booth, they hired a cartoonist to sketch fun pictures of guests as superheroes. They served their favourite cocktail, the Moscow Mule, in traditional copper cups, which they gave away as wedding favours.

Favourite Moments

Jonathan loved relaxing and having fun with the bridal party during photos, while Jaclyn’s favourite part was “seeing the whole day come together and making a wonderful memory with my husband, friends and family.”
