Scenic Mountain Wedding

Alison and Benjamin quickly became high school sweethearts, but their journey towards marriage was over 11 years in the making. The proposal and wedding were well worth the wait, and their beautiful daughter played an important role in both.

The Proposal

Alison and Ben took their daughter for a family vacation to Disneyland around Halloween and arranged to have professional photos taken in front of the giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin. Ben unzipped their daughter’s sweater to reveal a t-shirt that said “Mommy, will you marry my Daddy?”

The Big Day

Their daughter—and only flowergirl—finally got to watch her parents get married at the beautiful Silvertip Golf Course in Canmore. They had spent many weekends hiking and snowboarding in the area, so the mountain backdrop was both stunning and sentimental.  They included some special touches in their outdoor ceremony for their family, such as surprising their parents and Alison’s grandmother with a Scottish bagpiper. The bride and groom both lost a few grandparents in the months leading up to the wedding, so they laid a wreath on an empty chair at the front to commemorate them.

Alison’s favourite moment was watching Ben tear up when their daughter walked down the aisle, and again during their personal vows.

The happy couple look forward to expanding their family, starting with the arrival of their second baby earlier this summer.
