Stylish Fall WeddingLyndsey + Josh: Stylish Fall Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on March 13, 2017

Lyndsey and Josh met in the summer of 2006, just before starting their last year of high school. After 10 years of calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend, Lyndsey and Josh made it official with a stylish wedding full of warmth and romance—despite an unexpected snowfall. “At first we were a little disappointed but the snow actually made the day more magical,” says Lyndsey.

The Proposal

The couple were in Canmore for a relay race, and at the last minute Josh convinced her to stay an extra day. He woke her up early for a “hike”, which was really a helicopter tour and picnic on top of Heart Mountain, where Josh popped the question.

The Big Day

They wanted to personalize their wedding and enlisted friends and family to help; Lyndsey’s aunt and uncle made much of the décor to complement their palette of rose gold and cream, and a family friend drew the wedding party on the programs. They also had ping pong tables for guests to play on—one of which doubled as their guest book— and late night tacos courtesy of casa12doce food truck.

Favourite Moments

Both Lyndsey and Josh’s favorite moment was their first look, which “was pretty emotional and a special moment for both of us that we’ll never forget.”

Champagne Rosette WeddingMadison + Shay: Champagne Rosette Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on March 21, 2016

Everything came up roses for Madison and Shay. A mutual friend thought they would be perfect for each other and introduced them at a Halloween party, which led to a romantic proposal and a beautiful floral-themed wedding.

The Proposal

When the couple decided to move in together, Shay spent his spare time in the garage building furniture for their new home. One night, Shay showed Madison his final project: a beautiful desk. “I remember touching the wood and thinking how this desk would probably be in our family forever,” says Madison. She was so impressed with the workmanship that at first she didn’t notice the little blue box sitting in the drawer. When she realized what was happening, Shay was down on one knee.

The Big Day

Madison didn’t have a specific theme in mind, but wanted their wedding to feel romantic and intimate despite their guest list of 155. A champagne rosette tablecloth sparked inspiration, and the floral motif carried on throughout the Empire Ballroom in shades of blush and pink. An ivory and pink candy bar painstakingly put together by Madison and her bridesmaids finished the look.

Favourite Moments

Madison’s favourite moment was walking down the aisle past all her friends and family, while Shay fondly remembers reciting their vows with tears and laughter. “There was just so much happiness in the room, it couldn’t have been a more perfect moment.”

Modern Ukrainian Winter WeddingEdmonton Winter Wedding: Kelsa + Shane

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on September 29, 2015

Kelsa and Shane met by chance at a bar in West Edmonton Mall. Kelsa was just getting ready to leave, and as she walked past Shane she felt his eyes on her. She introduced herself, then decided to stay. They danced all night then started dating two days later.

The Proposal

The couple purchased a home in Shane’s hometown of Swan River, Manitoba. On possession day, Shane left to buy renovation supplies before taking Kelsa on the walkthrough. When she opened the door to the master bedroom, she found the room filled with flowers, photos of her and Shane, and the words “marry me” painted on the wall.

The Big Day

Kelsa and Shane returned to Edmonton for their wedding; they held their ceremony at Latitude 53 art gallery and their reception at St. John’s cultural centre. Volya Ukrainian Dance Ensemble performed for guests before a traditional Ukrainian buffet dinner.

The couple included some non-traditional elements to make their day unique: mixed bridal parties to include friends and siblings regardless of gender, cute cake pops instead of a wedding cake, and photos before the ceremony.

Favourite Moments

Kelsa:If I had to pick one moment it would be seeing Shane’s reaction to seeing me for the first time when we did the first look photos. I was so excited and a little nervous to see his reaction.”

Shane: “My favourite moment of the day was seeing my beautiful wife walk down the isle and knowing we will spend the rest of our lives together. Seeing her nearly brought me to tears.”

Featured Wedding: September 28, 2013Natalia & Mike's Enchanting Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 28, 2014

The day Natalia planned to close her online account with Plenty of Fish, she received a message from Mike. She gave Mike a chance because of their mutual Polish heritage and after the first date, they both knew they’d found their match.

The Proposal

A few years later, Mike proposed in romantic fashion. He took Natalia to a dinner theatre and then surprised her with a room at the Fantasyland Hotel. Greeted by an abundance of candles, rose petals and photos of her and Mike scattered around room, Natalia was a little confused, but when she turned around it all made sense—Mike was on his knee holding the ring in one hand and his speech in the other. With overwhelming joy, Natalia said yes.

The Big Day

Emotions rose high on the big day, but a sense of calm washed over the two when they joined hands at the altar. The DIY décor added ample personal elements to the wedding and the enchanting atmosphere was dually representative of Natalia and Mike’s love. A special keepsake the couple will forever cherish is the high back bench from the reception. They opted to sit on a bench instead of two separate chairs to symbolize their unity. The bench now occupies space in their bedroom and serves as a memento from their first dinner as a married couple.

Favourite Moments

Natalia: “When I was walking down the aisle and seeing all of my friends and family and most importantly the most amazing man standing at the alter smiling at me. It was a moment I had always pictured when I was younger and I felt it was finally coming true.”

Mike:When she first walked up to me and I grabbed her hand.”
