Covid-Era Micro Wedding
Lea + Kyle: Moody Romantic NuptialsPosted by Blush Magazine • Posted on January 31, 2021
Persistence truly paid off for Kyle. He met Lea after mutual friends insisted they would hit it off, but she wasn’t into him. After quite a few “no’s” she finally agreed to a date, and nine years and two beautiful daughters later she said “I do” to him.
The Proposal
On December 23 ,2016, Kyle asked Lea if she wanted to open a few presents early. She was completely surprised when she unwrapped a glittering diamond ring, and excitedly showed it off to her family on Christmas Day.
The Big Day
Lea and Kyle spent three years touring vineyards and restaurants searching for their ideal wedding venue but couldn’t envision their day until they found The Commons. The concrete floors, brick walls and numerous chandeliers created the perfect atmosphere for their moody yet romantic nuptials. When other couples started postponing their weddings due to COVID-19, Lea and Kyle decided to pick a date and stick with it. “Life is unpredictable and that is beautiful if you embrace it.”
Both of their fathers had already passed, so when they were unable to shop for jewelry due to the lockdowns Kyle used a ring his father had given him as his wedding band and Lea wound a thin gold necklace—a gift from her father—around her wrist. When Lea saw Kyle standing with their daughters at the end of the aisle, she knew she had everything she ever wanted.
Favourite Moments
Kyle: “The ceremony was my favourite part. To see such a unique experience we planned come to life was such a powerful experience. Every little detail had so much depth to it because we had so many limitations due to the pandemic it made the moments and subtle details so incredibly special.”
Lea: “My favourite moment of our day was when I walked down the aisle, having my immediate family sitting there and our memorial chairs for both of our fathers. I had my mom by my side, who was trying to keep it together, with a direct sight of Kyle at the end of the aisle. At the front of the aisle was both of our daughters and in that moment I knew I had everything I had ever wanted.”

Advice from the Newlyweds
“We recommend to just dive into the process. It can be so stressful and when we were feeling overwhelmed we hired a wedding planner.”
