Lyndsey + Kris: Romantic Fairytale Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on January 21, 2015

You often hear about people falling in love at first sight, whether in a crowded room or passing one another on the street. It was years ago when Lyndsey and Kris were out with a group of friends one night, their eyes met and they both felt an instant spark and connection, that was all it took for their love story to begin.

The Proposal

Kris went to University in Victoria, BC and quickly developed a love for the island city. So he took Lyndsey on a trip to the charming city and arranged for a horse drawn carriage to take them to dinner. On their way to dinner they made a stop at the beautiful Beacon Hill Park, they got out and went for a stroll in the park. Kris found the perfect opportunity to stop, get down on one knee and ask Lyndsey to marry him. Lyndsey shares, “it was a surreal moment that I will never forget.”

The Big Day

Lyndsey and Kris were married on July 13, 2013 at St. Basil’s Catholic Church. The church holds a significant meaning, it’s where Kris went to pre-school as a young boy and where the newlyweds want their future children to grow up. When planning their wedding day, Lyndsey and Kris pictured a celebration that was romantic, soft, and glamourous. It was important for them to find a reception venue that had that “wow” factor! They also wanted their guests to be able to enjoy themselves while the couple went on with their wedding day business. The Oasis Centre was everything they were looking for, they were able to  arrange for champagne and tapas in the gardens of the Oasis while the couple and bridal party were busy taking their formal photos. Unlike most weddings, the entire bridal party was formally suited in black and white. Even the bridesmaids were glammed up in Vera Wang wedding dresses with black sashes and the men looked dapper in black and white tuxedos. Lyndsey wanted her bridesmaids to feel just as beautiful as she did on her wedding day. In true fairytale fashion, the Oasis Centre also arranged for fireworks to go off at the end of the night.

Favourite Moments

Lyndsey: “Walking down the aisle and seeing Kris, as well as our family and friends who had travelled from all over to witness the joining of our new lives together. It was a feeling of pure joy and we could definitely feel the overwhelming love!”

Kris:The anticipation of being introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Ricci, and then walking through the grand entrance to all of our family and friends is a moment I will always cherish. There was so much energy and happiness filled in that grand room, my heart was pounding. I then gave my beautiful bride a nice spin before we took our seats at the head table, which I loved every second of.”
