Flores & Pine Calgary Wedding

Pretty In Pink

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on September 23, 2021

Ellie and Dave initially met online and went to a local comedy show on their first date. They hit it off pretty well and they agreed to go for waffles a couple days later – the rest is history!

The Proposal

Dave had planned to take Ellie to Maui and propose to her during a picnic with spectacular views but the pandemic had other plans for them. Instead, he took Ellie to Lake Louise, the first place they went out of town together. It ended up being a chilly -40 degree day. With her parent’s permission and a ring in hand, Dave went down on one knee and asked Ellie to marry him.

The Big Day

Ellie and Dave had dinner at Flores and Pines a few times and were impressed by the ambience, service and quality of food. After learning that Flores and Pines had a private bridal suite, the couple were even more interested in hosting their wedding there. After booking their wedding, they learnt that it was the same day Ellie’s parents got married and it happened to fall on Chinese Valentine’s Day – talk about meant to be!

Ellie really appreciated Debbie’s portrait of her cat Rocky and that it was incorporated in their wedding day signage.

Favourite Moments

Ellie: “The first dance we did was so much fun! Dave and I worked so hard on it, and our guests were able to sing along and enjoyed some of the dramatic moves we added in!”

Dave: “The ceremony was special to me because of what it represented. The dance was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed pulling it together with Ellie. There were so many moments that were awesome, it’s difficult to choose just one.”

Advice from the Newlyweds

“Hire a wedding planner. It may seem like a luxury, but we saved ourselves, family and friends a lot of stress by hiring Madeleine.”

Looking Forward to Most Now Being Married

Ellie and Dave are looking forward to spending their lives together, making sure they go on weekly date nights, remembering all the reasons they married each other and going on a honeymoon.
