Blush Magazine: Fall Winter 2018 Out Now!

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on July 31, 2018

Welcome to issue twenty of Blush Magazine! We had a great time putting this one together. We went through dozens of styled shoots and couldn’t be happier with the choice for our cover and editorial, shot and coordinated by Wild Theory Weddings.

We love the Fall Winter issue because we get the opportunity to put the spotlight on one venue, this year we picked one that is rustic, romantic and classic! We’ve also rounded up ten inspiring and never before seen real weddings from Edmonton, Calgary, The Rocky Mountains and Mexico.

Keen to get your hands on our 20th issue? You can check the bridal section at your nearest Chapters and Indigo shop around mid August or order online and we will ship within days.

Local Love Styled Shoot at Epcor Tower

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on February 22, 2018

Rustic romance meets urban chic in this stylized shoot at Edmonton’s newest addition to its skyline, EPCOR Tower. Located next to the Ice District, the modern building offers 360-degree views of the city and is the perfect setting to showcase our city’s amazing local wedding experts at the upcoming Local Love wedding experience presented by Blush Magazine.

Virginia Rose Events created the earthy tablescape of raw mineral stones and delicate blooms on a bed of moss, accented with pops of Prussian Blue in the candles and glassware. The ethereal gown from Delica Bridal, tousled bouquet from Akiko Floral, and antique furniture from Something Borrowed add a touch of whimsy to the industrial background of steel and concrete.

You can get further inspiration for your wedding from these and dozens more talented local vendors at the Local Love show on February 25th. For more information and to get your tickets, visit

There’s a New Show in Town!Engaged, Calgary’s Latest Bridal Show

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on February 1, 2018

After years of watching newly engaged couples leave wedding expos exhausted, overwhelmed, and with nothing but bags of business cards, Jasmine Esau (planner at Reflections Weddings and Events) and Monica Watson (planner at Picture Perfect Weddings) dreamed of a different kind of wedding show.

They envisioned a positive and purposeful experience for both vendors and clients, and created Engaged—a personalized and interactive wedding show in Calgary. “We designed Engaged to empower couples to plan their weddings at the show and give them the tools to continue that planning after they leave.”

A limited number of tickets and staggered entry times ensures both couples and vendors don’t get overwhelmed by huge crowds. Start off with a complimentary glass of champagne or beer at the Welcome Lounge and pick up a planning guide with a full vendor directory. The rest of the show is literally a step-by-step guide to wedding planning; enter the Core Vendor area to meet with planners, venue coordinators, officiants, DJs and photographers before diving into the small details. Rather than have thirty different businesses for the same category, Esau and Watson selected a few quality vendors to help couples nail down their wedding style.

Meander through the Inspiration Showcase to peruse different decorated tablescapes (with pricing for each item), sample food and beverages, listen to live music, and even get a dance lesson! Get tickets to the evening Gala to hear wedding planning tips from local experts while feasting on a six-course dinner complete with wine pairings.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a cake tasting, buy a beautiful bouquet and get pampered in the Marketplace with a hot shave for him and a hair and makeup trial for her. You can even book a custom suit fitting and boutique dress consultation!

If you leave the show with some boxes still unchecked, the Vendor Concierge will do your homework and find all the reputable city and mountain vendors available for your date.

Spring | Summer 2018 IssueNew Issue Release: Spring Summer 2018

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on January 10, 2018

Winter is still here but we thought we’d kick our fave seasons off right by releasing the Spring Summer 2018 issue of Blush Magazine – on sale today and to be stocked on newsstands by the end of January.  Our gorgeous cover features a bouquet designed by Flower Artistry and shot by Genevieve Renee Photographie, both based in Calgary, AB. The cover and editorial was meticulously planned and coordinated by Social + Co, a boutique event and design company also based in Calgary.

As usual this issue, we’ve featured and chatted with 11 couples who have all recently tied the know. We’ve shown you their gowns, bouquets, cakes and invitations so you can gather inspiration for your own day, but we’ve also asked them for their advice as someone who’ve just come out the other side of this whole wedding planning process.

You’ll find Blush Magazine stocked at Chapters and Indigo throughout Alberta and B.C. in two short weeks. In the meantime, you can purchase a copy online.

Black Swan Inspired Wedding ShootOut Now: Fall Winter 2017 Edition

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 3, 2017

Danielle Lucier is both a talented photographer and an avid daydreamer; she uses daydreams to calm her mind amidst tight deadlines and stressful moments, and also to let her creativity run free. During one particular late-night editing session, she found herself distracted by a video of Swan Lake. She envisioned a serene pond in the early morning mist, heard the rustling of tall grass and trilling of birds, and felt dawn’s first rays on her face. She imagined dancing along the water’s edge and running her fingers through the fog, watching it dissipate into nothingness.

The pale blue walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and myriad of textures and colours in the intricate décor of the Wedgewood Room beautifully represented the dream-like pond of our Black Swan cover shoot. Accents in shades of black and white mirrored the concept of duality that Danielle found most inspiring. She captured the internal conflict between light and dark, movement and stillness, and showed “that both can be beautiful and that they can meld together.”

Our Fall Winter 2017 issue will be on stands at Chapters and Indigo from mid August until mid January 2018. You can also order a copy online.
