Lavish Calgary Wedding

Ty + Nadeem: Lavish Calgary Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on February 3, 2015

Tharindri and Nadeem met at a mutual friend’s party and remained close for many years thereafter seeing as careers and life didn’t allow room for much else, until they encountered a game changing realization—they were both unknowingly waiting for each other.

The Proposal

When the time was right, Nadeem proposed to Tharindri amidst a room full of her favorite flowers with her favorite tunes on repeat, an album chronicling their favorite moments together and a will you marry me display spelled out in red roses.

The Big Day

Wanting to incorporate both cultures, the couple opted for a destination ceremony in Sri Lanka and reception in Calgary. The ceremony showcased Sri Lankan culture with Tharindri dressed in a sari and a seaside venue complete with a beautiful resident elephant. The couple brought a bit of Canada to Sri Lanka by placing framed engagement pictures on tables for guests to enjoy.

The Calgary reception captured the luxurious romantic elegance the couple desired and incorporated many of Nadeem’s cultural wedding traditions. The newlyweds, in white gown and tuxedo fashion, celebrated their love by sharing a video trailer and photos from the ceremony in addition to providing traditional Sri Lankan wedding cake as wedding favors.

Favourite Moments

Ty: “Reading the letters we wrote to each other. As we had a traditional Sri Lankan ceremony we were not able to say our vows to each other, so the letters substituted reciting vows for us.”

Nadeem: “The first look. This was the moment I got to see the love of my life for the first time on our wedding day. It was extra special for me as I had never seen a traditional Sri Lankan bride in traditional attire before.”

Advice from the Newlyweds

“Enjoy the wedding day as it tends to just fly by. The actual wedding day can be hectic, so take a moment to breath it all in and focus on what’s really important, the love between the two of you. I would also recommend planning a “day after” session for couples portraits as this will be less rushed and stressful than the wedding day.”

Looking Forward to Most Now Being Married

“Getting to spend every day with the love of my life, my best friend.”
