Foundry Room Micro Wedding

Kelly + Geoffrey: Foundry Room Micro Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on April 20, 2021

Kelly and Geoffrey met on Tinder 6 years ago! Their first time meeting in-person was at an Oilers hockey game.

The Proposal

The couple spent their Friday off work busy with activities from golf to dinner and a movie. While they were away, their friends set up the scene for a romantic proposal. When they arrived at home that night, Kelly found the entire living room covered in rose petals and candles along with a sign that read “will you marry me?” They celebrated the beginning of their forever with a bottle of Prosecco.

The Big Day

Kelly and Geoffrey were faced with planning their wedding during the pandemic and it threw off everything they had imaged their wedding to be in terms of celebrating the day with all the people dear to them.  Once they realized that a smaller guest count would allow them to incorporate more details; a plated dinner, quality time with their guests – they were excited to move forward with their new vision.

The couple had searched all over the place for a venue, from the Okanagan to Calgary. Once they learned that the Foundry Room was opening in Edmonton they went ahead and booked it for its location and that it gave them a blank slate to decorate.

Kelly and Geoffrey were seated at a sweetheart table fit for royals surrounded by 40 of their closest family and friends and had a live stream of their ceremony for those that couldn’t attend. They had a dog treat station as “favours” from their two dogs to their guests as many of their guests had dogs at home.

Favourite Moments

Kelly: “My favourite moment was our first look. I loved showing off my dress I’d been talking about for months. It helped with our nerves before the ceremony. One aspect of the day that was really important to me was no huge gap in between ceremony and reception. Geoff and I got some photos done after the ceremony and our guests were able to get some food and drinks at cocktail hour, then we were able to mingle with our guests during that time after photos were taken. That was another favourite moment of mine to just say hi to everyone without going hours prior to doing so.”

Geoffrey: “Seeing Kelly for the first time in her wedding dress. Having that 45 minutes during our first look to be together and in the moment and gather our nerves together. I also really enjoyed being at our sweetheart table throughout the dinner and speeches. This was something I wasn’t really sure about when Kelly first told me about this idea but looking back on it this was amazing. We got to be together and watch all our guest enjoy their food and conversation while giving Kelly and I time together to relax and enjoying being together on this busy day.”

“Just go ahead with your date. We never know when things will go back to “normal” and life outside Covid still remains, don’t put your events on hold. You can host a party later.”
