Private Rocky Mountain WeddingJessica + Blayne: Rocky Mountain Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 18, 2016

The moment Jessica met Blayne she was completely infatuated- and only 12 years old. In true fairytale fashion, the pair have been inseparable ever since and got engaged on their nine year anniversary!

The Proposal

Blayne took Jessica out for dinner on their 9 year anniversary. He was hoping for a bit of daylight left by the time they left. He convinced Jessica that it was nice enough and that they should go for a walk down to the river. He had to drag her as it was actually dark and starting to get cold. When they got to the river, Blayne took the promise ring off Jessica’s finger that he had given her 5 years earlier, and asked Jessica to marry him.

The Big Day

Jessica and Blayne chose the Silvertip Resort in Canmore to hold their wedding after falling in love with the venue’s beautiful ceremony backdrop and the fact that it was totally private. The Silvertip Resort offers a unique vibe complete with a fireplace, wood beams and outdoor patio.

Inside the venue, the pair laugh that their decor choices were subconsciously influenced by Jessica’s love for Harry Potter and the look of the Great Hall with its rustic character and high vaulted ceilings.

Jessica and Blayne wanted to be able to mingle with their guests for as long as possible so instead of a long dinner, they held a two hour long cocktail party followed by a two course dinner. The pair also chose not to have a wedding party and couldn’t be happier with their decision to spend the day focused on just the two of them.

Favourite Moments

Jessica and Blayne share favourite memories of seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle and when their families surrounded them on the dance floor in a circle and sang “Forever Young” until the lights came on.

Intimate Fairmont WeddingJaclyn + Jonathan: Intimate Fairmont Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on August 9, 2016

Online dating often results in hours of profile searching and numerous lacklustre first dates before—if you’re lucky—you really connect with someone. When Jaclyn and Jonathan were matched on Tinder, theirs was the first and last date either of them went on using the app. A few years later they celebrated their wedding with the hashtag #RamSwipedRight.

The Proposal

The couple love cooking, so Jonathan popped the question one evening while they were preparing dinner at his place. They celebrated their engagement later that evening with friends and family, and couldn’t wait to celebrate again—their engagement was only five months!

The Big Day

Jaclyn and Jonathan wanted a reception venue that was visually appealing and full of character, so when they discovered that the Wedgwood Room at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald was available for their date, they jumped on it. Instead of a photo booth, they hired a cartoonist to sketch fun pictures of guests as superheroes. They served their favourite cocktail, the Moscow Mule, in traditional copper cups, which they gave away as wedding favours.

Favourite Moments

Jonathan loved relaxing and having fun with the bridal party during photos, while Jaclyn’s favourite part was “seeing the whole day come together and making a wonderful memory with my husband, friends and family.”

Elegant Wine Themed WeddingAshleigh + Jon: Elegant Wine Theme

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on November 10, 2015

Timing is everything which is especially true to Ashleigh and Jonathan as they only knew of each other in high school, shared the same circle of friends, yet connected four years after graduation which was when their love story began.

The Proposal

Florence, Italy, an incredibly romantic location, is where Jonathan planned an intimate and private proposal. From horseback riding through vineyards, to shopping and dinner, followed by music and candles under a gazebo, Jonathan asked Ashleigh to dance. Half way through the song he got down on one knee and asked Ashleigh to be his wife!

The Big Day

An elegant wine theme was chosen given their love for Italy and wine. To complement the theme the venue had wooden beams on the ceiling illustrating a romantic feel with cork decor and rustic barrels. The couple wanted their guests to enjoy wine tasting during cocktail hour and for dessert was a beautiful display of macarons. The Blatchford Air Hangar at Fort Edmonton Park was the perfect venue to fit all of their guests not to mention the sizeable dance floor that was filled the whole night!

Favourite Moments

Ashleigh’s favourite moment was after walking down the aisle as man and wife, she got to share a private moment and hug her husband.

Jonathan’s favourite moment was seeing Ashleigh walk through the doors. He was mesmerized by how beautiful she looked and couldn’t stop smiling.

Copper Point Resort Wedding, InvermereInvermere, BC Wedding: Stephanie + Tyler

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on September 10, 2015

Stephanie and Tyler have the Calgary Firefighters to thank for their meet up. The first time the couple met was at a trade show at the BMO Centre where Tyler was a volunteer for the Burn Treatment Society. The second time was at a charity event that the Calgary Firefighters were putting on for the Burn Treatment Society. After that the two began dating.

The Proposal

On what seemed like a regular Thursday in July, Tyler kept dodging Stephanie’s attempts to make plans for the evening, claiming he needed to help a friend. His brother, Troy, asked Stephanie to go to Golf Town with him to pick out a new putter. She begrudgingly accepted. On the way Troy made a detour, explaining his cousins had asked him to take photos of their magic show. As they approached the hill before Girletz Rodeo Ranch, Stephanie spotted Tyler’s vehicle parked among a line of other cars. When she asked Troy what was going on, he said “Just get out of the vehicle.”

Tyler proposed to Stephanie in front of close friends and family, and Troy captured the moment on camera. Tyler had made posters featuring the lyrics of their favourite song, Wildflower by Dean Brody, and two years later they had their first dance as a married couple to the same song.

The Big Day

The Calgary couple wanted their wedding guests to enjoy a weekend getaway with a spectacular view, and Copper Point Resort in Invermere, BC fit the bill. They held their ceremony on the Opal Patio with the stunning Rocky Mountains in the background.

Favourite Moments

Stephanie: “My favourite moment of that day was walking down the aisle. I was so excited to see Tyler but also everyone who came to the wedding. I felt so, so special thinking that all these people came all this way for us.”

Tyler: “Other than seeing my gorgeous bride walking down the aisle which is obviously my favourite moment, I also truly loved the feeling I got when we walked through the doors of our reception hall and saw all the people we care about standing and clapping for us!”

Featured Wedding: October 5, 2014Nicole & Jon's Sutro Forest Wedding

Posted by Blush Magazine Posted on March 13, 2015

Nicole and Jon met nine years ago at the Grant MacEwan library.

The Proposal

During a trip to Jon’s hometown of Twillingate, Newfoundland, the couple took a hike to a lighthouse where Jon stopped to carve their initials into a cliffside lookout. By the time Nicole realized he had carved “JS+NS” rather than “NW” for her maiden name, Jon was already down on one knee.

The Big Day

Imagine standing in a lush forest, surrounded by the scent of eucalyptus, and marrying the love of your life there.

“It’s difficult to describe it as anything but magical,” Nicole says of her intimate wedding ceremony. Nicole and Jon said their “I do’s” in Sutro Forest, a 100-year-old eucalyptus forest in the heart of San Francisco. They shared the moment with their two closest friends as witnesses, their photographer Gabe McClintock, and Jon’s brother–who is a chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces–as officiant.

A reception party was later held in Edmonton at The Parlour, Nicole and Jon’s favourite restaurant.

Favourite Moments

Nicole: “When Jon passed me a post it note with a happy face on it before he read his vows (an inside joke). That and dancing with my dad.”

Jon: “Saying “I Do” to my wife”
